Kavala
Kavala is situated in the center of east Macedonia. The town of Kavala, built amphitheatrically by the sea can satisfy even the most demanding visitors because it combines natural beauty, tranquility within nature, archaeological sightseeing but also modern life, cultural activites and exciting nightlife. Kavala is a city where the modern with the old coexiste harmoniously. The town of Kavala has a history that goes back to the Homeric era. Its original name was “Neapolis” and it played important role during the Macedonian Age. Neapolis was the very first place Saint Paul stepped on European land when he came here to preach the Holy Bible and spread the Christian religion. In Kavala there is a lot to see, like the Byzantine walls and the 16th century Castle from where you can enjoy the view of the town and the port, the Kamares Aqueduct built by Suleiman the Magnificent to guarantee the city’s water supply and the Archaeological museum which contains the impressive finds from Neapolis, Philippi, Amphipolis and Abdera.

• By ferry: from Piraeus, Chios, Patmos, Kos, Rhodes, Lesvos and some other Aegean islands.
• By bus: from Athens, Thessaloniki and a few other north cities or Greece.
